Painstakingly restored Jaguar C-Type premieres today

Jaguar announced building a limited series of extremely faithful C-type Continuation vehicles early this year, and it will premiere at a Concours d’Elegance later today.

The Jaguar C-type Continuation is technically identical to the racecar that won Le Mans gold in 1953. Its six-cylinder engine pumps out 223 PS (220 hp / 164 kW), and the brakes are disc-based on both axles – an innovation and a know-how by the standards of the era.

The experimental vehicle to be featured at the show today has been recreated using archived documents and photos. Once those have been digitalized, the company made a 3D model of the car.

The replica will not be road-legal, but racing enthusiasts will be able to drive it in retro racing events. To that end, every example comes equipped with fire extinguishers, an anti-roll system, and multi-point safety harnesses.

Customer deliveries will start next year.
