When Jaguar abandoned motorsports after the season of 1956, Sir William Lyons decided to retrofit all remaining D-Type racers into high-end road coupes known as the XKSS. Only 16 was made in total, and one of them will be heading to the Monterey Car Week later this summer.

This specific XKSS 707 has been repainted multiple times and currently wears a shade of blue. For many years, it has been taking part in classic car races, including Le Mans Classic and Mille Miglia, and has been featured in a number of British car magazines.

The documents state that the car has traveled slightly over 41,000 km (25,500 miles) since new. It retains the OEM serial numbers on the chassis, engine and gearbox.

RM Sotheby’s will attempt to auction off the legendary classic at the Monterey Car Week next month Selling price projections hover close to 12 million USD.
