Jaguar E-Type gets James Bond-style treatment and a new engine

This exotic 1964 Jaguar E-Type draws attention to itself for two good reasons: engine swap and interior styling. Let’s see what’s so unusual about it.

The car comes powered by a modern Ford Performance V8 mill with five liters of displacement. Its power rating remains undisclosed, but should be in the 500hp (375kW) area. A five-speed manual gearbox uses a diff lock to send the torque to the rear axle.

Diehard E-Type fans will likely condemn the restomod for the swap alone, but the owner goes much farther than that to incur their wrath. He remodels the entire cabin to remind us of James Bond: 007 movies. There is a “Launch Missiles” button on the dashboard, a pistol and a “license to kill” card in the glove compartment, and a slew of newfangled gadgets. The latter include motion-sensitive sensors all around the car, as well as a special glass integrity sensor apparently installed to tell the driver that someone has just shot a bullet through one of the car’s windows.

As gimmicky as the build may seem, its main issue is perhaps its crisis of identity. The problem being, Agent No. 007 has never once driven the E-Type in his entire career. Aston Martin cars, yes, plenty of times, but not the E-Type.
