The original Jaguar E-type debuted in 9600 HP and 77 RW versions at the Geneva International Motor Show six decades ago. To commemorate the icon, the British automaker will be releasing an E-type 60 Collection restored to peak condition by Jaguar Classic and limited to 12 units.
Out of these, six will be coupe-shaped with a Flat Out Grey exterior and Smooth Black leather upholstery. The remaining six will be roadsters finished in Drop Everything Green and trimmed with Suede Green leather inside.
Memorial plaques such as ‘E-type 60’ and ‘1961–2021’ will adorn the cabin along with an engraving of a route that Jaguar test pilot Norman Dewis had to cover on his E-type roadster to get from Coventry, England to Geneva, Switzerland in time for the second show day. All buyers of the 60 Collection cars will be invited for an identical drive this summer.
Interior highlights additionally include an ash-rimmed steering wheel, as well as a gilded jaguar head logo on the honk button. A tool bag with a jack, tools and a car cover is also included.
There are certain deviations from the retro theme, of course, such as an electric fan inside the radiator, electronic ignition, a stainless-steel exhaust system, and an infotainment system with Bluetooth and navigation support.
Powering the ride is a 3.8-liter inline-six engine rated at 265 PS (261 hp / 195 kW) that hooks onto a purpose-built five-speed manual transmission.
Prices are pending, but mind that restoring a regular, non-anniversary E-type vehicle will typically set you back more than €300,000.
