Barely used 1964 Jaguar E-Type heading to a complete overhaul

The E-Type is a true icon among sports cars enthusiasts, so it should be unsurprising that a restoration shop, E-Type UK, decided to bring one example back to life after a half-century of non-use.

We are told that the car used to be owned by a British millionaire, who never covered 5,000 kilometers (3,100 miles) on it before smashing it against a tire wall on the track. The damage was largely negligible, but he still lost interest in the car and proceeded to sell it. It has never been driven since, amassing rust, dust and mold instead.

The restorer chose a rather difficult, yet understandable approach of tearing everything down to the last screw and marking the individual parts to ensure they go where they originally were. Replacements will only be made where necessary, and the award-winning 4.2-liter Series 1 engine under the hood will be allowed to stay. Finally, the company promises to keep the overall driving experience as authentic as it can manage.
