$220k nets you an amphibious Jaguar E-Type twin-hull craft

Newly founded Italian business Floating Motors has started taking pre-orders for the La Perla, a two-seat carbon-fiber catamaran boat with Jaguar E-Type looks and a $220,000 starting price.

Floating Motors is a recently registered sub-brand of Lazzarini Design. The La Perla is its fifth creation after the Fiat 500-inspired La Foil and La Dolce, a Porsche 550-stylized La Veloce, and the Mini Mare with obvious British city hatch roots.

The vessel is 5.52 meters long and 2.26 meters wide and weighs 1,850 kilograms. It uses dual Torqueedo motors to propel itself in the water with 135 PS (133 hp / 100 kW) each. The top speed lies at 102 km/h (63 mph), or 55 knots.

The Italian company often posts new renders of amphibious cars, claiming it can recreate nearly any iconic classic in a river-friendly shape. The chassis used enables building catamarans in five sizes ranging from XS to XL (3 to 7.5 meters long).

Having said that, the company is yet to show us even a single completed project. Work on a car begins after Floating Motors receives a deposit of approximately $5,000-$10,000 and takes between eight months and a year to finish.
