A rare Jaguar E-Type 2+2 has been discovered in the Netherlands – the first left-hand-drive example ever and one of the world’s first Jaguar four-seaters, too. It is now on sale for €40,000.
Jaguar launched E-Type production in 1961. Five years later, a new modification called 2+2 debuted with a body 229 millimeters (9 inches) longer than standard and a taller roof, enabling the addition of another seat row. As you can see in the video, the seats are only really big enough for children, but it was important, nonetheless.
This particular example was made in 1965, introduced in the United States by Sir William Lyons himself. It then got into private hands, and the history is silent about the rest.
It was a recent research on its VIN number that enabled the wide audiences to learn about its heritage. As of now, the car is partly disassembled with some components replaced in the past. The seller claims everything is in place and the entire powertrain is OEM.
