The name of E.C.D. Automotive Design is commonly associated with Land Rover restorations and in particular engine-swapped Defenders, but the company is going for something new with its freshly announced Jaguar E-Type line of restomods.
By default, the project involves swapping out the stock engine for a Tesla motor rated at 456 PS (450 hp / 336 kW) and a battery pack sufficient for 322 km (200 miles) of urban range. Charging the pack from zero to full takes eight hours.
Should you prefer a combustion engine, though, E.C.D. has you covered. You can go for a GM LT1 V8 rated at the same 456 PS, opt for a period-correct inline-six block or shell out on a gas-hungry V12. The latter two engines aren’t revealed in detail, but both were valid options for the stock E-Type coupe and convertible.
As usual, the restoration also involves a full overhaul of the exterior, interior and suspension as well. The company says it can only make 10-12 such cars per year, and the next year has 9 production slots already filled.
