The abbreviation E.C.D. stands for ‘East Coast Defender’ and is associated in the U.S. tuning world with a company that restores old Defenders and other Land Rover off-roaders. This week, though, the company surprised us with a very different project, unveiling a sophisticated Jaguar E-Type restomod.
The Project Dallas Commission reportedly took 2,200 work-hours to carry out. The car ended with a completely restored body, six-piston brake calipers at the front, four-piston ones at the rear and a modernized suspension. The whole exterior received a paint-over in a classical green shade, with the top offset in tan Nappa leather. The seats are ventilated and heated, and there is a modern infotainment system on board complete with a high-end audio system.
As for the engine, the car shown in the preview gallery received a massive Corvette LT1 in tandem with an eight-speed automatic transmission. E.C.D. does offer a whole range of different powertrain options here, from the inline six-cylinder of the E-Type Series to the mighty V12 of the Series III to an all-electric setup.
All pricing details should be discussed with the tuning company directly, but the media believe that a restomod of this grade may set you back more than U.S. $300,000. E.C.D. plans to produce between 10 and 12 such E-Types per year, depending on the demand.
