Jaguar has facelifted its F-Type range for North America, adding a new version called the P450 to the lineup with eight cylinders, five liters of supercharged displacement and 450 PS (444 hp / 331 kW).
The engine itself is not new: customers in Europe have had access to coupes and roadsters equipped with it for several years now. What is interesting, however, is that Jaguar made it the entry-level specification for the USA. This means that the previously available turbo-four (300 PS / 296 hp / 221 kW) and six-pot (380 PS / 375 hp / 279 kW) options are no longer available.
Understandably enough, the power upgrade comes with a hefty price bump of $8,300, meaning you can now buy an F-Type starting from U.S. $69,900. The drive can be on the rear axle or both, and you can opt for the range-topping F-Type R if you want 575 PS (567 hp / 423 kW). Prices for the flagship spec start from $103,200.
The reduction of the model range is all but expectable, because the writing is on the wall for the F-Type. Jaguar plans to shift its range to all-electric power by 2025, which means the current F-Type will cease to exist. Even if a successor comes, it will be a different model.
