Jaguar confirms the ‘hot’ I-Pace SVR is under development

Michael van der Sande, the Director of Jaguar Special Vehicle Operations, has confirmed that a performance version of the all-electric I-Pace SUV is underway.

Speaking in an interview, van der Sande pointed out that the release of the I-Pace SVR is just a matter of time. The company currently aims to maximize the production of the most economically viable cars, and an all-electric performance SUV is naturally not at the top of the priority list. However, he stressed, it will certainly emerge sooner or later.

The Jaguar I-Pace platform has already been used to build several Formula E vehicles based on it. But while those came equipped with the standard I-Pace powertrain, the SVR will arrive packing much more horsepower.

Right now, the I-Pace ships with two electric motors jointly rated at 400 hp (300 kW) and 696 Nm (510 lb-ft) of torque. A 90-kWh battery grants it around 470 kilometers (292 miles) of all-electric range. Acceleration from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) takes 4.8 seconds.
