Jaguar I-Pace demonstrates subpar ‘moose test’ performance

A moose test is a car testing technique that involves simulating the appearance of a sudden obstacle on the road ahead, forcing the car’s in-built safety features to react and attempt evasion. You’d think the Jaguar I-Pace would be both powerful and expensive enough to manage it – but the reality proves different.

Moving at 77 km/h (47.8 mph), the SUV keep hitting the road cones while appearing to weigh much more than it actually does. In one of the attempted test runs, a wheel locks up; in another few, the EV continues skidding forward, even though the safety system has succeeded in turning its wheels to the correct side to attempt evasion. On the brighter side, it never tumbles over – something that has happened to other cars in the same test before.

An earlier test found issues with the latest Toyota RAV4 always being late with the electronic roll stabilization.
