According to Boris Johnson, Prime Minister of Great Britain, the country will ban nationwide sales of gasoline and diesel cars from the year 2030 in an effort to transition to electric power. Hybrids will be allowed until 2035.
Owners will not be banned from driving their old ICE cars, but they will not be able to buy new ones. The ban on the sale of fossil fuels planned for 2050 is another major milestone: drivers will not be able to buy gasoline or diesel legally for their cars starting that year.
Great Britain expects to invest £12 billion into the initial development of the EV infrastructure, renovation of the existing power distribution network and development of electric vehicles and batteries.
In an earlier news, the Foreign Office decided to hand out Jaguar I-Pace EVs to its entire diplomatic corps – take a look at the car in our gallery and watch the video if you need a reminder.
