James Bond’s Jaguar C-X75 to go under the hammer

One of the four Jaguar C-X75 supercars created specifically for the 007: Spectre movie series will soon be exhibited at the Sothesby’s auction sale in Abu-Dhabi, UAE. Prices aren’t public, but you can bet it will fetch a tidy sum, given that this particular car was featured in numerous close-ups with the movie leads.

The original Jaguar C-X75 Concept was introduced at the 2010 Paris Motor Show as a sophisticated hybrid car with four electric motors and a battery that sourced its power from dual gas turbines. The prototype vehicle ranked close to 780 hp (580 kW), could sprint 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.4 seconds, and only maxed out at 330 km/h (205 mph).

After the successful premiere, Jaguar felt like launching the model into mass production, enlisting the help of Jaguar SVO and Williams Advanced Engineering for the task. However, the project was shut down soon afterwards, with only five pre-production copies built.

Some time later, Spectre producers contacted Williams Advanced Engineering with a request to build six supercars, four out of which they planned to use in chase sequences. These four stunt cars came upgraded with WRC-grade stainless-steel framework and powered by the F-type V8 linked to a six-speed Ricardo gearbox.
