Jaguar has taken the wraps off its facelifted XE sedan/saloon. The car now looks sportier and more aggressive than it ever did, but comes with fewer engine and transmission options than before.
The post-facelift Jaguar XE is immediately recognizable thanks to its new bumpers, as well as refined headlights and taillights (now LED-based in all trims). If you wish, you can order your car with the optional R-Dynamic styling package, which comes with a different set of bumpers and a number of further visual enhancements.
The interior of the refreshed model looks even less like its predecessor. There is a Jaguar I-Pace steering wheel, a 12.3-inch digital dashboard, two touchscreen displays on the center console, and a conventional gear stick where the rotary knob used to be. The company has even redesigned the door panels, changing the positions of the door handles and controls.
On the technical side of things, the Jaguar XE is no longer available with a manual transmission or a supercharged V6 engine. There are now only three engines to choose from: two gasoline units rated at 250 hp / 186 kW and 300 hp / 224 kW, respectively, and a diesel one rated at 180 hp / 134 kW. All three now ship solely with an 8-speed automatic transmission. You may still choose RWD or AWD, though.
Last but not least, the standard Jaguar XE now costs £33,900 in Great Britain, which is a hefty £2,400 above the pre-facelift offer. This is entirely reasonable, however, given that the new car features leather upholstery, 18-inch wheels and a back-up camera in base.
