Jaguar Land Rover has temporarily halted its XE and XF sedan production citing pandemic-related issues.
As it turns out, the company does not expect to re-launch the lines, mainly because the suppliers have exhausted their stock of parts. The official statement says that despite high market demand, corrections had to be made in shipment schedules due to temporary issues on the supply logistics part.
The situation threatens the already flimsy market position of Jaguar as a brand. Sources keep reporting that company execs discuss axing the next-gen XJ flagship to save costs, and the new XE/XF are also on the brink of discontinuation. Brisk sales of the J-Pace SUV could remedy the situation, but it needs to change generations to spark buyers’ interest – something that won’t be happening soon, judging by the absence of any recent J-Pace spy photos.
