The British sports car maker has assembled its last cars still using internal combustion engines at its Castle Bromwich factory. The final trio has been photographed and shared online by JLR PR boss, Ken McConomy.
The image shows an open-topped Jaguar F-Type, an XE sedan, and an exotic XF Sportbrake. The automaker confirmed early this spring that it was determined to stop making ICE cars by 2025, regardless of the EV market slowdown.
In accordance with the company’s current development strategy, the factory where Jaguar vehicles had been made since 1977, is due a complete retrofit. According to rumors, the company wants to dismantle its car assembly lines in Castle Bromwich and install spare part production lines there instead.
Looking in the future, Jaguar envisions itself as a luxury EV manufacturer capable of competing with the likes of Bentley and Porsche on their own turf. The company’s first vehicle in the new lineup will be an opulent Grand Tourer worth at least $125,000.
