XE SV Project 8 is the fastest-going sedan in the entire Jaguar lineup. Now the company wants to issue a special edition of this vehicle, one that would be even faster and more up-to-date with the latest industry trends. A total of 300 cars will be produced, starting in June.
The XE SV Project 8 has been carried out by Special Vehicle Operations, Jaguar’s own design and tuning subdivision.
The performance-packed Jaguar XE SV Project 8 initially debuted at the Goodwood Festival Of Speed in 2017. Back then, engineers pointed out several weak spots in its build, which had to be addressed in further development. The series-ready vehicle ended up with a stronger engine mount group, stiffer shock absorbers and better, more responsive brakes. In addition to the above, engineers had to improve the control firmware and software as well as boost the engine.
The Jaguar XE SV Project 8 features a 5.0-liter V8 engine capable of 600 hp (447 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb·ft) of torque. Reportedly, it can attain 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.5 seconds and eventually exceed 320 km/h (200 mph). A rear wing and a front splitter create an additional 120 kg (265 lbs.) of downforce, which should improve its overall acceleration and steering performance. In turn, adjustable suspension should help quickly react to any adverse road conditions.
Two specifications of the new Jaguar XE SV Project 8 will be made available, 2-Seat and 4-Seat, the former of the two swapping the rear seat row for an additional metal panel for 30% more torsional rigidity.
