Jaguar has made an interesting statement to Le Monde today, telling representatives of the French newspaper that it would not be unveiling any new models over the coming three years.
By 2025, the British sports car brand reckons to become fully electric and compete with the likes of Aston Martin and Bentley, so it looks to us like an attempt to get priorities straight.
At the beginning of the year, Jaguar-Land Rover CEO said the Jaguar brand would undergo a complete repositioning soon and be associated with high-end luxury vehicles. These vehicles will take advantage of a new EV architecture that the corporation invested £2,500,000,000 in.
The platform change will drastically alter the appearance of Jaguar cars, but the marque is unabashed. In fact, its representatives claim that going for this “upmarket EV brand” vision of the future is important enough to warrant ditching any concepts currently in development. What this likely means for us is that the Jaguar XJ, which you can see in the gallery and the video here, may never get its long-anticipated new generation after all, despite having been close to production.
