Jaguar sheds some light on impending XJ replacement

Jaguar plans to introduce a new full-size luxury sedan EV to fill in the gap left from its XJ model, Autocar.co.uk reports referencing own sources. It will allegedly be built around the automaker’s newest architecture, JEA.

As you may remember, the production of the Jaguar XJ (shown here) stopped a few years ago. Back when it was still available, it used to compete with premium vehicles from Mercedes, BMW and Audi. According to Autocar, its electric successor will move upmarket and fight for the customers’ wallets with the latest offerings from Cadillac and Bentley.

Jaguar initiated a complete reboot of its portfolio around two years ago, intending to get rid of many of the less successful performers, like the electric I-Pace SUV. Moving forward, the British company envisions itself as a player focused solely on the luxury segment of the car market.
