A rare Jaguar XJ220 with an exclusive exterior finish and only 2,652 miles (4,269 km) on the odometer will find a new owner in the UK by the end of this week, with the bidding so fat at the £235,000 mark.
The supercar rolled off the line in early 1993 and was number 029 to do so. In August that year, it was delivered to its buyer in Germany, and only returned to the UK a few years ago.
On March 17, 2021, the car underwent its latest tech inspection with 2,622 miles (4,220 km) on the counter. In September last year, it had its engine and gearbox dismantled for a valve gear overhaul.
At the moment, the XJ220 is reported to be in ideal condition with smoothly running engine, intact Le Mans Blue paintjob and as-new Connolly leather trim in the cabin. All buttons and controls function as intended, and a slight scuff on the driver seat’s armrest is mentioned in passing as the only visible defect.
The XJ220 came out in a series of 285 units in 1992-1994, including ten prototypes. Its twin-turbocharged V6 churned out 551 PS (543 hp / 442 kW) and 644 Nm (475 lb-ft) of torque. Jaguar had originally toyed with the idea of equipping it with a V12, but ultimately decided against it. Even with its current powertrain, the model was able to hit 342 kilometers per hour (212.5 mph), claiming the title of the world’s fastest production car at the time.
