Willys Jeeps have been famous for their off-road chops through generations, and these two clips featuring a few vintage SUVs in Moab Desert provide further proof of that.
The first of the cars to appear on screen goes by the moniker Barnicle Will. It breezes through the descent part of the route, but struggles during the climb part, demanding the most skill from the driver to make it to the top.
Then a second Willys Jeep nicknamed the Slumdog hits the scene. Having been upgraded with a rear diff lock recently, the vehicle has little trouble navigating the difficult terrain. The driver picks a more challenging route to even out the odds and struggles with keeping all wheels firmly on the ground, but ultimately manages to ascent.
A third contender joins the challenge later: the Willys Jeep Station Wagon was the ancestor of the modern Jeep off-roader as we know it. Despite being technically a wagon, it also succeeds without breaking a sweat and even makes a couple of circles on the sand below.
The original Willys MB came powered by a 2.2-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a three-speed manual transmission, a two-range transfer case and 4WD. The output maxed out at just 60 hp (60 PS / 45 kW).
