Jeep’s smallest CUV allows a sneak peek inside

Car spotters have nabbed the upcoming subcompact CUV from Jeep as it was running its pre-production tests and made photos. The car, which is conventionally named ‘The Jeepster’ by the company, will most likely debut at the Paris Motor Show in October.

The model runs on the CMP platform by Stellantis and sports a dashboard similar to that of the Peugeot 2008 (watch the video and compare for yourself). The details are different, but the layout is nearly identical. The Jeepster appears to have a larger center touchscreen display with slimmer, longer air vents below and a niche for miscellanea farther down. It looks like manual transmission will be an option.

It is assumed that the upcoming Alfa Romeo Brenero and Fiat 500 models will be based on the same tech and components. The cutting-edge STLA architecture is still in development, which means that the trio of compact crossover SUVs will have to make do with the CMP platform designed in France. The important thing to note here is that it does not support AWD.

In earlier news, an electric modification of the new Jeep was spied during an ad shoot (look for the yellow car at the end of the gallery below). It appears identical to the ICE car sighted today except for the rear bumper and the radiator grille.

Powertrain-wise, these two are expected to ship with a PureTech 1.2-liter turbo engine and an electric motor rated at 136 PS (134 hp / 100 kW).
