When Jeep introduced its smallest crossover SUV, the Avenger, at the recent Paris Motor Show, it was fully electric and did not have a manual transmission option. A new 1.2-liter gasoline-powered version debuted today priced €14,000 under the EV.
The original Avenger is still obtainable as an electric compact SUV powered by a single motor good for 156 PS (154 hp / 115 kW) and 260 Nm (192 lb-ft) of torque. Its 54-kWh traction battery gives it around 400 km (248 miles) of range in mixed cycle, but if you are going to use it exclusively in the city, the range will go up to around 550 km (342 miles).
The new 1.2-liter petrol engine churns out a tame 100 PS (99 hp / 74 kW) and 205 Nm (151 lb-ft) of torque. Like its electric cousin, it sends the momentum to the front axle, but the transmission is six-speed manual. Jeep hasn’t revealed any sprint times yet.
On the outside, you can recognize the ICE Avenger by its single tailpipe and gear shifter on the center console.
