Jeep has unveiled the Scrambler SRT concept, which serves as a preview for potential production versions of the Scrambler, expected to arrive around 2028. The concept is a modern interpretation of the original CJ-8 Scrambler, built on a Wrangler foundation with two doors and a truck bed.
The Scrambler SRT concept features independent front suspension, a first for a Wrangler-branded model, paired with a Trophy Truck-inspired rear axle. This suspension system was developed in collaboration with a Dakar-winning off-road driver. The front end of the concept includes a retro-styled grille, a prominent hood scoop, and oversized fender flares. The concept is finished in Punk’n orange paint.
Under the hood, the Scrambler SRT concept is equipped with a V-8 engine. While the specific engine is not confirmed, the SRT badging suggests it could be either the 6.2-liter supercharged Hellcat engine or the 6.4-liter "392" engine. The concept's development aimed to explore an "open-air desert weapon" according to Tim Kuniskis, head of American Brands, SRT Performance and Direct Connection, Stellantis North America.
The Scrambler SRT concept marks the first public appearance of the Scrambler name since Jeep confirmed its return. While official timelines, style, and mechanical details for production models are still pending, the concept provides an indication of future Scrambler vehicles, with an SRT version potentially at the top of the lineup.
