Jeep Avenger gets new ICE powertrain options, cuts prices in UK

The compact-sized Jeep Avenger has received a gas-powered and a hybrid version in the UK, where it had previously been available exclusively as an EV. Those who postponed their purchase may now save more than £11,000 if they opt for the ICE version.

Specifically, the entry-level Jeep Avenger EV had cost £34,800 before any options. It had a single e-motor rated at 156 PS (154 hp / 115 kW) and a 54-kWh traction battery good for 550 km (342 miles) of in-city range.

The new gas-powered Avenger makes do with a 1.2-liter turbocharged engine rated at 100 PS (99 hp / 74 kW) and 205 Nm (152 lb-ft) of torque and a six-speed manual transmission. It is drastically cheaper at £23,600.

Not only that, but paying just £25,300 gets you a mild hybrid. It uses the same engine as above, plus a 28-PS (28-hp / 21-kW) motor driving the front axle. It takes advantage of regenerative braking and can cover a little distance on electric power alone if needed.

Even maxed out with all possible options, the Avenger Hybrid comes in at £29,200 – still a good deal more affordable than the EV.
