Car Tuning

How do you like this ultrawide 1989 Jeep Cherokee?

A 36-year-old Jeep Cherokee with off-road upgrades and whopping 14 inches (355 mm) of extra body width is up for grabs in Denver, Colorado right now. The asking price of $14,900 may be tempting, but there are multiple caveats.

Working with a stock Jeep Cherokee like the one in the video here, tuners retrofitted it with a snorkel, a bull bar, recovery hooks and auxiliary lights. Once they flared the fenders, they took care to redesign the rest of the exterior to match – for example, the radiator grille at the front now has 11 slits in it instead of the usual 7. They also installed a second glove compartment in the cabin and moved back the rear bench for an extra bit of legroom.

On the technical side of things, the car ended up with Rancho shock absorbers and wheels shod in 33-inch BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A tires. The listing is scarce on details, but someone in the comments claims that the widebody conversion took place 27 years ago and that the Cherokee has over 250,000 miles (402,000 km) of use on it. That’s definitely something to keep in mind.
