The automotive concern FCA has filed an application for a new brand name “Grand Commander”. Car industry professionals agree that this is going to be the name of a new Jeep crossover to enter Chinese market in the near future.
It bears mentioning that the U.S. manufacturer has produced cars with the similar-sounding name of Jeep Commander from 2005 until 2010.
Rumors now abound speculating that the new Jeep Grand Commander may be a direct successor to the Yuuyu Concept introduced to a wide audience during the 2017 Shanghai International Car Show in China. Whatever the truth, Grand Commander officially debuts at the 2018 Beijing Motor Show, so we might as well wait until then.
The new seven-seat crossover is expected to be shipped with a variety of engine choices comprising a brand new 2.0-liter gas motor capable of 270 hp. A hybrid model should be made available as well.
