It is no secret that real SUVs often hide themselves behind unassuming exteriors and only unveil their full potential in extreme off-road conditions. A perfect illustration would be this Jeep Compass 4WD, which looks just like your run-off-the-mill crossover vehicle. It isn’t until you take it on a trip to the wilderness that you realize it’s actually a formidably capable SUV with loads of off-road potential.
On the other hand, suspension parts manufacturer H&R makes a fair point when it claims that many of us will never, ever use the Jeep Compass outside of an urban environment. Those who would rather embrace its sportier side may now order a set of lowering springs that will bring it 40 mm (1.56”) closer to the ground. This will make the car easier to handle when entering sharp turns while reducing rolling and making it look fitter.
The new H&R sport-grade springs are somewhat stiffer than the factory set, but the manufacturer promises that it won’t have any noticeable effect even during longer trips.
A spring set will set you back €260. Optionally available are H&R Trak+ wheel spacers (€44 and more).
