Jeep counts among the ten most popular carmakers in Brazil, with the local FCA-produced Renegade and Compass models being the most sought after. A new three-row crossover SUV will be joining them later.
The seven-seater had been spotted testing on the streets before (see photos), but this is the first time it receives official acknowledgment. Like many have speculated, it comes based on the Compass chassis and tech, but Jeep says it will get a different name (media have suggested ‘Grand Compass’). The Small Wide 4x4 platform also belongs to such models as the Jeep Renegade, Fiat Toro and Fiat 500X. The new family hauler will probably get revised steering and suspension.
Jeep specifies that only turbocharged engines will be available without saying which ones specifically. The 1.3-liter Firefly unit with gas/ethanol fuel support and the new MultiJet turbo diesel are both likely candidates.
Sales in Brazil should begin in the second half of 2021, followed by the rest of Latin America later on.
