The ongoing Guangzhou Automotive Exhibition mostly deals with cars made in China for the domestic market, but it occasionally also hosts international premieres – such as this one.
Strictly speaking, the 2021 Jeep Compass you see here is a China spec, but the international version will not be much different in terms of design. Exterior novelty boils down to slightly revised headlights, and a black front bumper insert. The Trailhawk version redesigns the bumper and adds towing eyes along with a few decorative inserts at the front end.
Inside, the 10.25-inch digital dash is new, and so is the standalone 10.1-inch touch-enabled infotainment display. The center console and air vents get some modifications as well, and over-the-air (OTA) updates are supported.
The China spec includes a turbocharged engine rated at 173 PS (171 hp / 127 kW) and a choice between FWD and AWD, as well as between 7-speed DCT and 9-speed A/T.
