Reports: Jeep Compass to go electric next year

Jeep is developing a zero-emission version of its Compass SUV, Auto Express reports adding that the development is already underway and due to be finished in 2023.

Despite sharing the name with the gas-powered Compass featured in our gallery here, the EV will reportedly have very little in common with it. For one thing, it will be based on the STLA Medium platform by Stellantis. This means it will be larger than its predecessor and likely marketed towards larger families.

The battery-powered Compass will allegedly come with a choice between a single motor rated at 170 PS (168 hp / 125 kW) and dual motors capable of 250 PS (246 hp / 182 kW). The range is estimated at roughly 640 kilometers, or 400 miles.

The company plans to introduce four new EVs in the coming few years. The list probably includes this rumored Compass version, the Avenger, a large SUV and a premium CUV.
