The third-generation Jeep Compass 4xe looks like a typical crossover on paper, but the company insists that it makes a capable off-roader. Prices in Germany start from €54,900.
Compared to the regular Compass, the 4xe version features electronic AWD as standard. Its front axle gets hit with up to 214 PS (211 hp / 157 kW) and 345 Nm (254 lb-ft) of torque, while the rear one gets up to 180 PS (178 hp / 132 kW) and 232 Nm (171 lb-ft).
The combined output stays capped at 375 PS (370 hp / 276 kW) and 577 Nm (426 lb-ft), though. The SUV needs 4.9 seconds to sprint from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) and gets up to 606 kilometers (376 miles) of WLTP-rated driving range from its 96.1-kWh battery pack.
On the exterior side of things, the new Compass 4xe is 4,587 mm (180.6 inches) long, 1,936 mm (76.2 inches) wide and 1,667 mm (65.6 inches) tall with 2,795 mm (110 inches) of wheelbase. The approach, departure and ramp angles amount to 28, 31 and 17 degrees, respectively.
Despite these modest numbers, Jeep does everything to advertise the car as a full-fledged off-roader. The company highlights its 210 millimeters (8.3 inches) of ground clearance and the ability to wade water up to 480 millimeters (18.9 inches) tall.
All assembly for the EU market is being handled by the Stellantis factory in Melfi Commune, Italy.
