Jeep Gladiator Willys debuts with army truck looks, plenty of off-road equipment

Remember a dealership brochure advertising a Jeep Gladiator Willys that leaked online three months ago? The special edition of the pickup has been officially announced now along with all the tech and options.

The truck comes with 17-inch black alloys wrapped in 32-inch BFGoodrich KM2 Mud-Terrain tires, a rear diff lock, Rubicon running boards, special body decals, a black front grille and fenders finished to match the body color (eight colors available). The Command-Trac 4x4 system features a two-speed transfer case and a 2.72:1 reduction gear.

The special edition is only obtainable in the relatively affordable Sport and Sport S trims. These come with basic air conditioning and fabric-wrapped seats (no heating). There is an eight-channel audio system and a UConnect 3 infotainment unit with a five-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth and a couple of USB ports.

Powering the car is a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 burning gasoline for 289 PS (285 hp / 213 kW) and 353 Nm (348 hp / 260 kW). Another option comes in the form of a 3.0-liter turbo diesel V6 with 264 PS (260 hp / 194 kW) at its disposal. The former spec costs U.S. $35,265 plus $1,495 shipment fee. The diesel spec lies $4,000 above, and opting for an eight-speed auto gearbox adds another $2,000 to the sticker.
