Jeep Gladiator bows with a new radiator grille, AEV options

Jeep has come to this year’s Detroit Motor Show (NAIAS-2023) with a 2024 model year update of its Gladiator truck. A new grille at the front is the biggest exterior modification, but there are plenty other things on the list. The sales will begin before the end of the year.

The pickup comes with seven wheel designs to choose from and tires sized from 32 to 33 inches large. The interior is styled in the same vein as the latest Wrangler, complete with a new 12.3-inch multimedia display that necessitates moving the air vents farther apart.

Other than that, the pickup offers extended safety features including safety curtains for the first and the second seat row, as well as belt pretensioners for the rear seats.

Power comes from a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 petrol engine – no diesel anymore. It makes 285 PS (281 hp / 210 kW) and 260 Nm (192 lb-ft) of torque. Six-speed manual is the default transmission, but you can pay extra for an eight-speed automatic.

American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) offers three aftermarket packages for the truck. Upcountry and Upcountry+ both add a 50mm (2-inch) suspension lift and 35-inch BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires, among other things. The third package is called Level II and is only available for the Rubicon spec. It lifts the ground clearance to an impressive 400 mm (15.6 inches) and puts 37-inch rubber on the wheels.
