Jeep Grand Cherokee five-seater set to debut on Wednesday, Sept. 29

When the next-gen 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee debuted, it only did so as a seven-seat luxury SUV. The five-seat version did not appear on the schedule after its initial introduction at a Stellantis conference in July. It seems that the waiting time is finally over, though.

The latest teaser video indicates that the shortened off-roader will premiere on September 29. Compared to the Grand Cherokee L, it will get a different lower grille, c-pillars, and glass dome. The powertrains will most likely be the same, implying a 3.6-liter V6 as a starting option and a 5.7-liter V8 as a high-end one.

The release schedule also includes a plug-in hybrid variant likely related to the Wrangler 4xe. The latter comes powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, an electric motor, and an eight-speed automatic transmission. Finally, the company mentioned a mild hybrid earlier, which we assume could use an inline-six engine with a starter-generator.
