Jeep briefly recalls the Grand Cherokee from dealerships over a key fob issue

Some Jeep Grand Cherokees came with faulty key fobs that could lose connection to the car after unlocking the doors, which resulted in the car triggering its hijack alarm with the owner in the driver’s seat.

According to Jeep, the company has managed to localize the issue and is working fast on fixing it. Only a very limited number of vehicles is affected, and the situation does not warrant a safety recall. All affected customers received invitations for free technical service.

The latest Grand Cherokee generation debuted not long ago. In the USA, it comes with a base 3.6-liter V6 rated at 298 PS (294 hp / 219 kW) and 352 Nm (260 lb-ft) of torque. There is also a high 5.7-liter V8 spec with 362 PS (357 hp / 266 kW) and 529 Nm (390 lb-ft) of torque. Finally, there is a plug-in hybrid version with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder and an electric motor working together for 380 PS (375 hp / 279 kW) and 637 Nm (470 lb-ft).
