Elderly Jeep Grand Wagoneer becomes an EV restomod for nearly $0.3M

U.S.-based car restorer Ghost Garage will produce a small batch of Jeep Grand Wagoneer electromods, restoring and modernizing the classic SUVs while switching them to all-electric propulsion. The pre-orders are running, and the shipments should start next summer.

The source vehicle required is a Grand Wagoneer SJ, which was produced in 1963–1991, but Ghost Garage highlights the fact that it will only work with model year 1989 through 1991 examples. In its stock form, the car shipped with a variety of six-cylinder engines from 3.8 to 4.2 liters large, as well as V8s ranging from 5.4 to 6.6 liters of displacement.

The restomod will have 507 PS (500 hp / 373 kW) and a traction battery rated for 402 km (250 miles) of range. Electric motor count and configuration are unknown at this point. The tuner says every car will get an interior overhaul with new seats and modern equipment.

The asking price is a cool $290,000 USD.
