Jeep will stop putting eight-cylinder engines into the 2024MY Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer, Car and Driver reports quoting documents that the automaker submitted to EPA, as well as dealership newsletters.
If true, this means both models will transition into their next year with six-cylinder engines under the hood and no other options.
The current Jeep Wagoneer makes do with a 5.7-liter V8 rated at 397 PS (392 hp / 292 kW) and 548 Nm (404 lb-ft) of torque, which links to the rear wheels or all four via an eight-speed AT. In turn, the deluxe Grand Wagoneer version utilizes a 6.4-liter V8 with 477 PS (470 hp / 351 kW) and 617 Nm (455 lb-ft) of torque. This one always has its drive on all four wheels and a dual-range transfer case.
It is worth noting that the documents Jeep submitted to the EPA still mention the 6.4-liter V8 as a possible engine option for the 2024MY Grand Wagoneer. However, the emails received by the dealerships nationwide are claiming such an engine will no longer be used.
