The 1988 Jeep Grand Wagoneer pictured here was on its way to the scrap press when Vigilante 4x4 intercepted it and decided to transform it into a modern and lavish restomod. The result is now listed for sale for eye-watering 385,000 USD.
With a brand-new chassis, replacement body panels and a new engine, precious little remains of the original off-roader. In particular, all propulsion is now handled by a 6.2-liter V8 turbocharged to deliver 817 PS (806 hp / 601 kW) to the wheels though a four-speed AT. The suspension and the brakes have been upgraded to support the formidable output.
A peek inside reveals a cabin trimmed with Moore & Giles leather in two colors and lined with Alcantara. Unusually enough, the seats are stock but with replacement springs and padding, so they should feel nicer to sit in than the factory version. Modern climate control, radio and enhanced noise proofing all around should also contribute a lot to the comfort of everyone inside.
The question is, would you ever consider buying a classic SUV for a new Ferrari price?
