According to several media sources, the automotive concern Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is actively exploring the possibility of mass-producing a seriously downsized Jeep crossover SUV for the European market.
Naturally, there is no official statement to go by at this early state. But the reasoning for the move seems simple indeed: there is a market niche for these vehicles in the Old World countries, while the United States still mostly prefer to have their cars big and bulky.
According to a media investigation, the talks concerning the possible release of a small-time Jeep SUV began as early as 2017. If the vehicle makes it to the mass market, it is going to be positioned slightly under the Jeep Renegade.
Rumors also have it that it may be manufactured on the FCA assembly lines in Italy based on the Fiat Panda chassis.
