Jeep Wagoneer L breaks cover in the USA

Jeep has unveiled the long-wheelbase ‘L’ versions of its Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer models at the New York Auto Show. Both cars have around 7 inches (180 mm) of extra space between axles and around 12 inches (300 mm) of total body length.

Aside from adding legroom for the passengers to enjoy, this change increases the size of the trunk located behind the third seat row. Buyers can choose between seven and eight seats: the second row can be specified with a sofa for three or two individual captain’s seats.

Interior highlights include a digital dashboard, an infotainment display, a front passenger’s display and a couple of touchscreens for those sitting in the back, too. Jeep points out that the diagonals sum up to whopping 75 inches. Should you desire still more displays, there is an optional HUD available.

Power for both models comes from a new 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder. The Wagoneer L extracts 425 PS (419 hp / 313 kW) and 635 Nm (468 lb-ft) out of it. The Grand Wagoneer L gets 517 PS (510 hp / 380 kW) and 678 Nm (500 lb-ft) of torque. Both are available exclusively with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.

Sales will begin in the second half of 2022.
