Production Jeep Wrangler finally gets the long-awaited V8

Jeep has posted a single image depicting a new hood cover design for its Wrangler SUV. The bulky cover and the number 392 on it can only mean one thing: for the first time on record, the off-roader gets the 6.4-liter Hemi V8 option.

Various eight-cylinder Wrangler builds existed before thanks to the efforts of countless tuners, but the manufacturer never offered one straight from the factory, despite there being enough space under the hood. No official reason was given, but multiple sources suggested that the automaker was concerned by possible passive safety issues.

The abovementioned Hemi V8 6.4 is currently only available for Dodge muscle cars, including the Charger and the Challenger. It pumps out 485 hp (362 kW) in its stock form, which is far superior to what the Wrangler has in its top spec.
