After revealing the Wrangler Rubicon 392 Concept last summer, Jeep has announced the forthcoming launch of its production version next year. The off-roader gets a V8, just as expected.
Details are scant right now, but the concept (watch the video for a closer look) had Dana 44 axles, a Selec-Trac drive, diff locks, a mild suspension lift, Fox shocks, and 37-inch all-terrain tires. As for the engine, it commanded 457 PS (451 hp / 336 kW) and 610 Nm (450 lb-ft) of torque. The car made it to 60 mph (97 km/h) in under five seconds with the help of an eight-speed automatic transmission.
It is worth considering that the new Ford Bronco maxes out at six cylinders with 2.7 liters of displacement, 315 PS (311 hp / 232 kW) and 542 Nm (400 lb-ft) of torque. Furthermore, even the upcoming Raptor version may turn out less powerful than the V8 Wrangler. Having said that, Hennessey Performance has already announced a 760-PS (750-hp / 559-kW) custom build of the Bronco.
