Jeep Wrangler BEV Concept slated for March premiere

Jeep expects to reveal four new pure EVs until next year, and Brand GP Christian Meunier feels confident calling these cars ‘the marque’s best,’ even though none of them has even reached the market yet.

Things should change with the Jeep Wrangler BEV Concept reveal during the Easter Jeep Safari, which just barely avoided canceling due to the coronavirus and will (we hope) be held in Utah on March 28 through April 3, 2021.

Like the Wrangler 4xe Hybrid, the BEV will keep its electric motor integrated into the familiar eight-speed auto transmission. The usual transfer case and drive shafts will also be present, and a battery module will occupy the space behind the rear axle, next to the crankshaft.

The newcomer will preserve the body-on-frame design of its predecessor and be available in RWD and 4WD variants. It will weigh considerably more than its gas-chugging counterpart. No power specs have been disclosed yet, but we expect something similar to the 4xe’s 380 PS (375 hp / 279 kW) and 637 Nm (470 lb-ft) of torque.

Odds are good that the show car, while technically still a concept, will be very close to its final production version.
