Jeep has confirmed that the next model year will be part-electric for the Europe-spec Wrangler, no exceptions. Pre-orders are already running in some countries, while in Germany, you can still grab the 2.0L turbo four-pot version rated at 272 PS (268 hp / 200 kW).
The original Wrangler Hybrid debuted in 2020 and will soon be available with an expanded catalog of options. These include a Gorilla Glass windshield made of a comparatively lightweight and much sturdier glass than usual, resulting in fewer cracks and dents even during intense off-road driving. If the name sounds familiar, it’s because it is widely used in the smartphone industry.
Aside from that, buyers will be able to go for a new roof option named Sunrider Flip Top, which replaces the hard top over the front row of seats with a black folding soft top. In terms of driver aids, cruise control, emergency braking and smart high beams have all been redesigned. Finally, there are now more body finishes to choose from than ever before.
The powertrain includes a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and two electric motors. The resulting output amounts to 380 PS (375 hp / 279 kW) and 637 Nm (470 lb-ft) of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission delivers the momentum to the wheels, taking the Wrangler to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.4 seconds.
