Jeep backpedals on promises to keep the Wrangler V8 Final Edition exclusive

After announcing that the Jeep Wrangler Final Edition will be forever capped at 3,700 production units made within one year, the American automaker had a sudden change of plans that left many buyers frustrated.

The Wrangler Final Edition went on preorder this spring priced from $99,995 – approximately $7,000 higher than the standard Wrangler V8. Back then, the company said that it would be the last eight-cylinder Wrangler edition ever, bolstering the demand.

It has now come out with a new statement, arguing that the public “isn’t ready to part with the V8 Wrangler yet”. To satisfy the sudden surge in demand, Jeep decided to prolong the production well into 2025 and increase the production target. The unspoken implication here is that exclusivity value gets diluted for everyone who paid a premium for the “final” edition, looking forward to good resale prices in the future.

The company also mentioned in passing that the trim options would be revised for the next model year without providing any further details.
