The Italian police has received a one-of-a-kind Jeep Wrangler SUV optimized for coast and beach area patrolling. The vehicle was handed over by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles CEO Sergio Marchionne himself.
The police will use the car – which has had its body painted in the white, red, and blue colors traditional for the Italian police – in the coastal parts of the Emilia-Romagna region.
The vehicle has the previous-generation Jeep Wrangler platform at base and comes equipped with a radio station, a siren, flasher lights, GPS navigation, small arms holders, 17-inch wheels clad in off-road tires, and reworked suspension with greater road clearance.
A 2.8-liter diesel engine capable of 200 hp (149 kW) and 460 Nm (339 lb·ft) toils at the core of the police SUV, coupled with an automatic transmission.
The Italian police also has Alfa Romeo and Fiat specialty vehicles at its disposal.
