The exotic Jenson Viperceptor can be yours for £80k+

Back in the mid-20th century, a powerful grand tourer called the Jensen Interceptor was popular in the UK. Rewind to the present day, and a team of tuners decided to build a restomod called Viperceptor – the same car plus a Dodge Viper engine. Historics Auctioneers will be selling one of these at the end of the week, expecting a top bid in the range of £80,000–105,000.

The base Interceptor model was assembled in the distant year 1973. Depending on the modification, it could have an engine sized from 5.9 to 7.3 liters large. As impressive as it may sound, the original mill was ditched in the Viperceptor project to make room for a massive 8.3-liter V10. The output isn’t mentioned in the listing, but the stock Viper powertrain pumps out a happy 755 PS (745 hp / 555 kW).

A four-speed automatic transmission carries the torque to the rear wheels. Even with the gargantuan ten-cylinder block in, the car manages to weigh as little as 1,270 kilos (2,799 pounds), making it very agile on street and track alike.

You will recognize the Viperceptor on the road by its custom bodywork designed by Hampshire-based Valley Gas Speed Shop. The original production plans existed for between 25 and 50 such vehicles; just how many actually saw the light of day remains unknown.

Elsewhere, the project features numerous brake and suspension upgrades, as well as a limited-slip differential. The interior benefits from a fresh soft-leather trim and offers a three-spoke steering wheel, a revised center console and an audio system with Bluetooth support.
