Chinese automaker Jetour has released some official photos of its part-electric Traveler SUV also known as the T2. It will be released on its domestic market under the name “Jetour Shanhai T2” with three powertrains to choose from, AutoHome reports.
Based on the images, the new Traveler will look the same as its non-electrified sibling (see video). Boxy outlines, aggressive bumpers, yellow accents and a luggage box on the tailgate – everything is identical. The charging port is perhaps the only new addition.
The interior remains to be revealed, but knowing Jetour, it can very well stay the same, too. On the outside, the hybrid version is 4,785 mm (186.9 inches) long, 2,006 mm (78.4 in) wide and 1,875 mm (73.3 in) tall with 2.8 meters (109.4 in) between the axles.
The powertrain incorporates an Atkinson-cycle turbo engine that produces 156 PS (154 hp / 115 kW) from 1.5 liters of displacement. Two electric motors assisting it ramp up the output in hybrid mode to 381 PS (376 hp / 280 kW) and 610 Nm (450 lb-ft) of torque. In China, the SUV will ship with a fairly large battery rated at 43.23 kWh. Owners will be able to charge it from external sources and cover up to 208 km (129 miles) on a full charge. With the gas tank full, the range increases to 1,300 km (807 miles).
While not official, it is highly likely that the new Jetour Traveler will debut at the Beijing Automotive Exhibition coming up in late April.
